You earn Fame points in the site in two ways:  1) by getting repped (via the + Rep button) by other members;  2) by contributing content, like hosting a Challenge or Tournament, or by uploading a Tutorial Video.  The numbers shown on the left side of forum posts represent each member's values for those two types of Fame - the first shows reps, the second shows contributor points.
