I'd like to learn more about the cars so I decided to start this topic on the cars details.
- Koenigsegg Regera -
Look how cool are there Akrapovič exhausts!!
BTW, the "D" 'in the steering wheel means Direct Drive... I guess it should change to R while going reverse, BUT IT DOESN'T.
The Regera doesn't come with a traditional transmission system (e.g. manual or DCT or Auto or CVT). No rev matching, no millisecond counting, and no elastic feel. Just a direct link between the engine’s hydraulic coupling and the rear axle.
Regera comes with the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD). And the car is a hybrid! So, as far as I can understand, the electric engines get the car to a certain speed, then the comb.engine brings the car to its top speed.
There are three electric engines (1x 160 kW (~215hp), plus 2x 180 kW each (~240hp)), providing the impressive launch of 62mph in 2.7 seconds. Then, a hydraulic coupling can lock up, putting the engine to directly spin the rear wheels without the interference of a transmission.
However, the Regera does have wheel paddles:
And here's a treat from another Koenigsegg:
