Apex, Apex, where the hell are you?

I've been playing since ver 1.1, never taking it that serious in terms of driving it to the max.... until recently. I still don't care for WTT but have been working to improve my times... and have dramatically. By challenging someone faster, I discovered that I usually entered a turn first but always exited last... and that's been paying off with the faster times.

Hence, the issue... how do you identify the apex? I obviously wasn't :) Is it trial and error just like trying to identify the braking point? I'm believing it is. Also, is there an apex for a long curving turn or do you just feather the brakes around it or do you enter it slow enough so you cruise around it not needing brakes at all? For example, the big left hand curving turn after the first right turn on the Leipzig Dynamic circuit.
