Time Trial Olympics Team Qualifiers

--- Updated!  Please read! ---

(Ladies &) Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!

Even though the MRR Dream Team that will compete in the World Time Trial Olympics starting June 12th has already been selected, you can still join the fun in our parallel events here at MRR.

We have devised a way for you to compete with others at similar skill levels.  Once all the results are in, we will divide the list into different groups in order from fastest to... well, not-so-fastest. cheeky

For example, if we get 75 members to run the qualifiers, they will be put in three groups as follows:

Group 1 (Dream Team) Group 2 Group 3
 1st-25th 26th-50th 51st-75th

Obviously, we can't know in advance how many participants we're going to get.  If we get 60, we'll split them 20/20/20.  The point is, whichever group you end up in, you should be able to be competitve against the other players in the same group.

And, as additional enticement, there will be prizes up for grabs - for all three groups.

The Events...

The three events for the qualifier are:

  • Pure Stock Challenge 7.1 - Ford Focus, Suzuka East
  • Prime Production Match-Up 8.1 - Audi TT RS, Dubai National
  • Modern Sports Classics 8.1 - Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Brands Hatch

The deadline for submitting your times is June 10.  The first TT Olympics event starts on June 12.  Even if you don't have time to run the qualifier events between now and the deadline, you could just snap screenshots of your current personal bests and submit them in this thread.

The Rules...

Borrowed from Matt.Vargo - Thanks Matt.

  1. You must post a snapshot of your best run.
  2. Matt's UTT Rules: No grass/dirt cutting, keep two wheels on the track at all times (within or on perimeter of asphalt or ripple/rumble strips).  The TT off-track detection should take care of this - just stating the rule in case there are any exploits found.
  3. You must race online.
  4. You must post at least one submission in each of the three events.
  5. Your combined time for all three events will determine your place in the results table, and thus, which group you will be competing in.

So come one, come all - join the fun!

Tutorial Videos...

As requested, I've included three videos created by Matt.Vargo showing some good driving lines and braking points (if you can figure them out from the sounds instead of the brake lights).

Ford Focus RS - Suzuka East Circuit

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - Brands Hatch

Audi TT RS - Dubai National
