The month of May is also the month of the Indy 500, and Turn 10 teamed up with Josef Newgarden and three other IndyCar racers to give us a star-packed rivals event with lots of rewards. There are two rivals events, one around the GP circuit and one around the oval, and both can be found in the FRC-related section of the rivals menu. Each event has rewards for participating (setting any time, does not have to be a clean lap), getting into a certain bracket (e.g. top 25%), and beating specific IndyCar participants.
The four IndyCar racers we're competing against, and their gamertags, are as follows:

I've so far only done the oval event and am slightly behind Newgarden around the Brickyard. If you've done it, you might've noticed that the car hits the rev limiter at the end of the straights and slows down by about 8mph. The key thing to do is to let off the throttle slightly when the car reaches maximum speed so that it doesn't hit the limiter, that'll allow you to enter turns 1 and 3 at around 236-237mph. Hitting the limiter costs about a quarter of a second a lap, I think.
