In the Corvette C7.R Limited Series, I enjoyed the 12-lapper at Melbourne so much I ran it several times before finishing the Series (at which time I couldn't get back to it). Just to make it more interesting, I came up with a points system to help improve my clean racing.
It's simple:
- Pass a car cleanly, add one point (you start at zero).
- Touch a car - minus one point.
- Touch a wall - minus one point.
It was a bit surprising how difficult it was at first to get into double-digit points, even in that 12-lapper, but by the third run, my driving had improved significantly. Also, having to stay behind cars longer than usual in order to pass cleanly makes it more of a challenge to win if the event has fewer laps.
It's kinda fun - give it a try.
