It may look like its not working but it is, so be careful when restoring. With the TTs, soon as you reset it, your percent completion decreases. It goes down a lot due to the new series added. When you save, it will save the new progress, but when you restore, it looks for the best save you have done. After resetting a TT or lots of TTs, your progress goes down a lot. Restoring will restore the progress before your resets. You have just lost all your new coins and $s. 

What do you do then? before saving, you need to increase your progress higher than before you did the reset. Check your profile progress (that man icon on the right lower part), if that is lower than what the best save is, you need to run some more races. To increase your progress, you need to run the races in the new series. Running already done races will not affect your progress.
