Getting the newest cars without upgrading to 2.2

Is anyone still on 2.1 and is willing to do a test?  Unfortunately, I cannot claim that it is without risk, however, it may net you the newest cars and series without having to upgrade. The idea is interesting. In the RR3 root folder, there is a directory /Library/Caches (accessible without jailbreak) that is essentially of soft-coded copy of /RealRacing3.app/res (accessible only with jailbreak) with the two folders essentially getting merged (the Caches folder taking precedence on repeated files) and the resultant files and directories representing the cars, tracks, manufacturers etc. Theoretically, this means that by moving the 2.2 /RealRacing3.app/res folder and merging it with the /Library/Caches folder, the merge may give you the ability to buy the cars, run the series, change their liveries etc., all without ever upgrading to 2.2. Essentially, it's 2.2 without the bug fixes, which would allow you (hopefully) to still use the GC bugs to get your economy under wraps. The steps would be simple and as follows:

  1. Unzip the res.zip file
  2. Take the resulting directories and move them to the Caches folder, overwriting any redundant files (files that exist in both locations), and retaining all files that currently exist in Caches but not in the res folder. Keep in mind that you're not moving the actual res folder, just its contents.
  3.  Start the game and find out if it worked!

Keep in mind that  this is an entirely untested procedure. In the best case, it works, in the worst case, the game could break until you reinstall or restore the Caches or Library or Documents folder. You could get banned for direct manipulation of game files, etc. If anyone is interested in testing this, send me a PM, or post back here. Be aware of the potential consequences. If it works, we may lead on to a whole new level of RR3, including possible mods, user-added tracks, free cars, unofficial series, etc. Any takers?
