While those annoying bots can pit you and throw you off track I just discovered this easy way to complete this without any hairpulling moments. 

Jus make sure you are third and have not gone off track, simply retire while in third position(placed 3rd before the first straight and did that) and the goal will be complete, no need to do even one lap. When I did this i was logged in to GC, but wifi turned off :) hope it helps anyone
